If your book or other library items are overdue, you will receive notices from the library on the due date and 3, 10, and 28 days past the due date. After 28 days, the book will be declared lost, your library account will be blocked, and you will need to replace or return the material in accordance with our policies: https://usna.edu/Library/services/circulation.php#panel4accordion1MissingandDamagedLibraryMaterials

For midshipmen, we also issue speeding tickets and conduct offenses related to overdue library materials. If you do not return an item immediately after receiving the 10 day overdue notice, you will be issued a speeding ticket in MIDS. After a book is declared lost (28 days post-due date), we contact you and your company chain of command to ensure the item is replaced or returned. If you do not resolve the matter within 7 days, we contact your BATTO and the DepDant. If you still do not resolve the issue IAW our policy, we will record a minor conduct offense in MIDS.

Midshipmen can see a complete timeline of the overdue process here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/14IUeF1EnKlhFdC-wVqGShdkjJTTNJ1tPOqSraBwomy8/
